UN Convention Members Approve Global Protections for 40 Migratory Species at the Brazil Summit

The 15th UN Conference on the Conservation of Migratory Species concluded in Brazil with member states approving stricter international protections for 40 species including snowy owls and cheetahs.More than 130 nations and the EU agreed to legally safeguard habitats and remove migration barriers after reports showed nearly half of all migratory species are currently in decline. These new conservation measures exclude major powers like the USA, China, and Russia while specifically targeting the alarming 80 percent drop in global freshwater fish populations.
