Malaysia Airlines has been ordered by a Beijing court to pay approximately $3.3 million in compensation to the families of eight victims of Flight MH370, with the total compensation set at $410,000 per victim. This ruling follows more than ten years after the Boeing 777, operating Flight MH370 from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, vanished on March 8, 2014, with 239 people on board, in one of civil aviation's greatest unsolved mysteries. The compensation is intended for families whose loved ones have been legally declared deceased, a step many felt was akin to giving up hope of finding them, though some campaigners welcomed the pending resumption of search operations.
