Letitia James said a grand jury in Virginia declined to indict her on a new mortgage-fraud charge, ending a previously dismissed case after a judge had halted the prosecution over concerns about the U.S. attorney’s appointment.Maurene Comey filed suit in federal court seeking reinstatement and back pay after a July dismissal that followed her lead in prosecuting Sean "Diddy" Combs on prostitution-related charges, she contends the DOJ did not provide a valid reason for firing and a federal judge suggested her grievances might be more appropriate for an administrative board while Comey said that if Donald Trump or Pam Bondi were involved she could pursue her claims in federal court.William Fitzpatrick and other judges criticized the DOJ for improperly filing under Lindsey Halligan's name and striking it from documents, while a separate judge granted a temporary restraining order barring prosecutors from using materials seized from Daniel Richman and ordering the government to identify, segregate and secure the material pending further court review.
