Audrey Illeene Carroll, Zachary Aaron Page, Dante Gaffield and Tina Lai were arrested after federal agents say they disrupted a coordinated plot to detonate improvised explosive and incendiary devices at multiple targets in the Los Angeles area.Charging documents filed by the Department of Justice describe an eight-page handwritten plan titled Operation Midnight Sun that called for planting backpacks filled with complex pipe bombs at Amazon-type logistics centers and detonating them simultaneously to coincide with fireworks, and prosecutors say investigators recovered PVC pipe, suspected potassium nitrate, charcoal, sulfur and materials suitable for fuses during searches of a desert campsite and the suspects' homes.Federal officials described the accused cell as an extremist offshoot of the Turtle Island Liberation Front operating as Order of the Black Lotus, said members used Signal and burner phones to coordinate and shared bomb-making instructions, and warned that additional charges or arrests are possible as agents continue to review seized evidence and electronic communications.
