Canada’s Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs urged the federal government to act after a leaked Canadian intelligence assessment warned that the same drivers behind the Hanukkah attack near Bondi Beach are present in Canada. The assessment, prepared after the attack that killed 15 people and wounded dozens, echoes Israeli intelligence warnings of a global surge in low‑tech, quickly organized plots that target open societies during religious holidays and often use non‑Iranian nationals, encrypted communications and clandestine logistics.Security agencies have increased patrols in Jewish neighbourhoods, CIJA CEO Noah Shack and analysts including Colin P. Clarke and Amarnath Amarasingam urged tougher enforcement, legal fixes and long‑term measures, and investigators are probing firearms, explosives, Philippine training trips and cross‑border links in a continuing international inquiry.
