Genetics Determine 50% of Lifespan Following Landmark Scientific Study

#Stockholm, #Sweden
Research published in "Science" shows genetics account for 50% of human lifespan after scientists analyzed twin data from Sweden and Denmark alongside centenarians in the USA. Sara Hägg from the Karolinska Institute found this genetic influence is much higher than previous estimates of 10% to 30%. Individual lifestyle choices such as exercise and diet still determine the remaining 50% of longevity according to the researchers. The study utilized advanced modeling to separate biological mechanisms from external factors like accidents or infectious diseases to reach these new conclusions. Sara Hägg expressed surprise at the magnitude of the genetic impact but noted that it aligns with the known heritability of several common diseases.Data from Sweden shows that life expectancy has returned to pre-pandemic levels after a temporary decrease in 2020 following the global impact of COVID-19. Scientists hope that these findings will eventually help identify the specific genes that regulate the aging process across different populations.
