The Opera del Duomo, which manages Florence Cathedral and other historic landmarks, has been defrauded of $1,785,366 in a sophisticated "man in the middle" scam that began in August 2024.This incident is part of a larger $30 million money laundering and fake invoice operation, leading to the arrest of nine individuals of various nationalities and an ongoing investigation led by the Brescia Public Prosecutor's Office.
