María Corina Machado, a Venezuelan opposition leader who had been in hiding from the Maduro regime, orchestrated a clandestine maritime escape to Oslo to receive the Nobel Peace Prize, aided by war veterans and rescue specialist Bryan Stern of Grey Bull Rescue in the high-risk "Operation Golden Dynamite." The operation required evading Venezuelan, Cuban, and Russian intelligence services, passing multiple military checkpoints, and crossing the Caribbean Sea during a sixteen-hour journey, with one veteran later recalling how he begged an officer not to send Machado back into danger, underscoring how close she came to capture and possible imprisonment. As she reunited with her daughter Ana Corina Sosa in Norway, Machado used her new global platform to condemn the repression of Nicolás Maduro and the Iranian authorities, demand liberty for imprisoned laureate Narges Mohammadi, and criticize harsh police operations against Venezuelan migrants in Peru that Vente Venezuela denounced as discriminatory and legally unjustified.
