Carl Erik Rinsch was convicted in New York of wire fraud and money laundering for diverting $11 million from Netflix, funds intended for his unfinished sci-fi series "White Horse".Rinsch allegedly used the stolen money, initially part of a larger $44 million investment for the project, to purchase five Rolls-Royces, a Ferrari, luxury furnishings, and made speculative investments, much of which failed. The director, known for "47 Ronin" starring Keanu Reeves, is scheduled for sentencing in April, following reports by the New York Times of the Netflix project spiraling out of control.
