María Corina Machado said in Oslo that she is confident Nicolás Maduro will leave power and declared her readiness to serve as vice president in a future government, dedicating part of her Nobel Prize to Donald Trump. In a taped interview on "Face the Nation" that aired on United States television, Machado described fleeing Venezuela with help from private rescuers and, she said, some United States officials, while declining to provide details to protect those who assisted her and confirming U.S. discussions had referenced her and Edmundo Gonzalez as transition leaders. She called the
Maduro regime a criminal network linked to
Russia,
Iran,
Cuba,
Hezbollah,
Hamas and
drug cartels, urged stepped-up
sanctions and legal actions, and said any transition must be orderly, avoid civil conflict and be led by the Venezuelan people.
