Frédéric Péchier was convicted and sentenced to life by a French criminal court after investigators linked a long pattern of deliberate poisonings of 30 patients between 2008 and 2017.Prosecutors said Péchier secretly tampered with intravenous bags, adding potassium and other drugs to trigger cardiac arrests and severe bleeding so he could intervene and appear to save patients; a dozen died and others, including a four-year-old known as Teddy, were left with permanent damage.Péchier denied the charges and will appeal, while state prosecutor Christine de Curraize told the court, "Frédéric Péchier, you are not worthy of the title of doctor," and victims' lawyer Stéphane Giuranna said life imprisonment was the only fitting sentence.
