Dan Jørgensen said the Commission will analyse speculative behaviour and present conclusions next year after unveiling the EU's first Affordable Housing Plan, which was first published last week. The plan aims to add about 650,000 affordable homes a year, mobilize at least €11.5 billion from the EU budget on top of €43 billion already allocated, and expects national and regional banks to help channel roughly €375 billion by 2029.Critics welcomed increased investment but warned the package relies too heavily on private delivery, lacks binding tenant protections and that short-term rentals rules and state aid easing must be translated into national policies to prevent further housing stress.
