Israel said it carried out airstrikes across southern and northeastern Lebanon that killed a Hezbollah operative and struck weapons storage as it sought to disrupt rearmament ahead of a deadline at the end of the month for Hezbollah to disarm, following earlier reports that strikes hit positions from Mount Rihan to Hermel and that a drone strike near Taybeh caused casualties.The strikes were launched before a committee meeting to monitor a U.S.-brokered ceasefire and as a parallel Paris meeting involving Rodolph Haikal and U.S., French and Saudi officials aims to shore up the Lebanese army and dissuade Israel from further escalation; Nabih Berri called the attacks “an Israeli message to the Paris meeting.”
