The Pittsburgh Penguins are being sold to the Hoffmann family in a deal reported to be worth roughly SEK 15.8–16.7 billion, following earlier reports that Fenway Sports Group had reached an agreement to sell the club. The transaction must be approved by the
NHL board of governors before it becomes official; FSG bought the Penguins for about $900 million in late 2021, Forbes and
Sportico value the team around $1.7–1.75 billion, and buyers led by
David Hoffmann already own the
ECHL's
Florida Everblades.
