NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte rejected calls for European strategic autonomy after a new USA defense strategy shifted military focus toward China.The Pentagon document asserts that European allies must take primary responsibility for their conventional defense while Rutte warns that protecting the continent without USA support is impossible.Rutte also defended his relationship with Trump, crediting the former president for the fact that NATO members reached their 2% GDP spending targets by the end of 2025.
