Simona Mohamsson Proposes Nationwide Mobile Phone Ban in Schools

The Swedish government has introduced a proposal to ban mobile phones in all elementary schools starting August 1, 2026, to improve student mental health and academic focus.Simona Mohamsson and Jakob Forssmed announced that students must surrender devices at the start of each day, covering all activities including breaks and after-school care.The legislative package also grants teachers more power to remove disruptive students and mandates earlier support teaching in Swedish and mathematics for those in need.
